Roundtable Writer’s Breakfast – John Wiley Price

“Race in America: The Kerner Report: Revisited 50 Years Later”

Includes breakfast and dialogue.

When race riots destroyed nearly every American city in the 1960s, President Lyndon Johnson appointed an 11-member 1968 National Advisory Commission of Civil Disorder, aka the Kerner Commission, he asked: What happened? Why did it happen? What can be done to prevent it from happening again? The report concluded that America was “moving toward two societies: one black, one white-separate and unequal.” Now fifty-years later, DALLAS COUNTY COMMISSIONER JOHN WYLIE PRICE sits at the head of the breakfast table declaring that race problems in America are deeper, blacker and browner than before. Hosted by Board Members Barbara Steele and Theresa Daniels.
