Set in Atlanta, Georgia at an NAACP Youth Conference, this dramatic play with music depicts the journey of a woman’s inner struggle for self-identify and racial equality. This piece follows Ms. Horne from her childhood in the 1920’s Jim Crow South, through her early career in Hollywood, to her triumphant civil rights stand at the 1963 March on Washington. This powerful one woman show, performed by WENDI JOY FRANKLIN, is a must see! Hosted by Board Member Charlie Mae Smith.

TBAAL HOSTS 72nd NADSA CONFERENCE IN DALLAS
THEME: Shifting, Changing and Building on a Strong Foundation

Wednesday, 12 – Saturday, 15
The National Association of Dramatic and Speech Arts Conference (NADSA) will convene in Dallas this year where industry professionals in theatre, film, television and arts administration search for youth with promise.  At the country’s only predominantly African American educational theatre conference, more than 30 institutions showcase their brightest students.  The young artists perform in various theatrical competitions critiqued by industry professionals.  High school speech and drama programs are invited to attend and showcase their students’ talent.  For more conference information, contact TBAAL or Dr. Wendy Coleman at (229) 430-4840.
